Transforming Depression Project

Background

Lynette made a CD called Transforming Depression for the charity Holistic Support Network, which she co-founded. The charity is now closed. However, some people found the CD very helpful so some of the tracks are here to listen to online. Click here to find out more about the tracks.

The CDs  contain a mixture of information, mindfulness and breathing exercises and guided visualisations,  designed to give people an opportunity to take some greater control of their journey of recovery. The CDs are intended to be used either as an alternative or in addition to any treatments or therapies received from GPs or other therapists.

In preparation of the original CD the charity conducted a trial in 3 North Devon GP surgeries, with a grant from Awards For All to fund the pilot and production. The CD is accompanied by a booklet explaining some of the techniques and giving some background to the project.

The CD package was launched in May 2011 and then distributed to be freely available through GP surgeries, mental health services, advisory centres, social services, self-help and support groups, and to individuals by contacting the charity directly.

The Charity Holistic Support Network has now closed but there are some CDs still available.  If you are interested in a CD and live in the UK, you can have a CD for free, cost £2 for postage and packing. Please send a message through the contact page for more information about how to get a CD.

There are also 2 additional CDs available for those in the UK for £10 each including P and P.

Lynette is working towards making some new audio and video resources to help people transform health and life issues.
